Yahsas! I’m Christos, owner of Pitaria, a small family run business providing Greek street food and fresh produce. I am a chef from Rhodes, Greece and have always loved food. My journey began at the age of nineteen when I started training as a chef. I launched Pitaria, my street food stall offering Greek style wraps at local markets. In the beginning I struggled to find dips such as Tzaztiki and flatbread pitas that were just like home. No shop bought breads or dips compared. I wanted my customers to experience the taste of Greece as authentically as possible without having to travel on a plane to do so.
After several hours spent trialling my recipes to make my handmade breads, I finally perfected the taste and ‘fluffiness.’ I then turned my skills to my dips starting with Tzatziki, using my years of experience working as a head chef and my inspiration from cooking with my mother, learning her recipes that were past down to her from my grandmother and then I finally found my recipe!
I then turned my attention to perfecting my other products such as my Feta Dip, which led to my decision to make all my own products myself. Each dip has been produced to complement the fillings in each wrap and following many compliments from my customers, I started to produce take-away breads and dips for them to enjoy at home. The popularity for my products is growing and I am now supplying several shops.
I live in Radstock Somerset with my wife and five children, our ambition is to build our family business so many more people can enjoy our food.
